Made Redundant And Considering Your Options -antik

Careers-Employment For many of us, our first instincts following redundancy are to secure a position which pays the same as our lost job. We have a certain lifestyle in place which requires a certain amount of money each month. It might, however, be worth taking a step back and thinking not only about continuing with our current lifestyle, but how much we would actually need to life a life that will truly make us happy. The best story I know about this can be found in Tim Ferris lifechanging book The Four Hour Work Week .fourhourworkweek… Tim tells the story of the businessman on holiday in Mexico who came across a local fisherman after he had landed a particularly impressive catch of quality yellowfin tuna. The fisherman explained that there was no need to go out again as that few hours work would provide enough to support his family. When he went on to say that the rest of his time was spent at leisure, with his friends, children or playing the guitar, the businessman, a Harvard MBA, sensed a business opportunity and made some suggestions to the man. He suggested that the man start off by fishing for longer to give him enough money to buy a bigger and then, more, boats. He could then sell direct to the consumer and open his own cannery. Ultimately, he could run his own business empire, leaving Mexico and moving to New York City. After 20 years or so he could sell the business and be worth millions. The fisherman then asked what he would do with all those millions and the businessman said Well you would retire and move to a small coastal fishing village, where you would spend your time at leisure, with your friends, family or playing the guitar.. Although this story makes a good point, it can be difficult to get your head round if you are caught up in the merrygoround of mortgage and credit card payments. If you have been made redundant, spend some time thinking about what you really want and how little money you actually need to get it. About the Author: 相关的主题文章:
